Properties of Mesopotamian soap
Mesopotamian soap is obtained from the hot saponification of two selected oils: olive oil and bay oil. Olive oil has excellent emollient properties and is a powerful cleanser when made into soap. For this reason, Mesopotamian soap containing high amounts of laurel oil (30% and above) is recommended for dry and sensitive skin. It is cleansing and relaxing.
Mesopotamian soap cleans the skin deeply and is equally suitable for body, face and hair. It relieves dry scalp and helps fight dandruff.
You can recognize traditional Mesopotamian soap by its irregular edges and yellow/brown color due to the drying time. This brown layer is one way to determine the age of soap. The drier the soap, the older it is. However, the inside of the soap retains the emerald green color of the oils that make it up.
